Unlike regular wool the mohair is smooth, light and has a soft touch to the hand. Since it has a smooth surface, it will give a very shiny yarn and product. This feature together with its lightness also makes garments made of mohair very comfortable and airy to wear. The light but strong fiber has a soft touch at the same time as it gives warm knitted products.

Mohair contains no fat but instead they have a wax on the fiber to protect them against feeling wet and cold. Mohair works well with producing both knitted garments as well as textiles for interior, this because it is highly durable and flame retardant.

We sort mohair into several different qualities:

  • Kid Mohair is the finest fiber and comes from the two or three first shearings of the baby goats. The kid mohair is then used to make our soft and airy Mari and Fivrel yarn. We mix the mohair with 20% imported merino wool.
  • The wool from young animals, also called yearlings, is used for our yarn Symre. In this yarn we mix 20% Norwegian lambswool with the mohair.
  • Wool from adults and wool from older bucks are used to spin our thicker and more durable yarn Pan. This yarn is a mix between 30% wool from Norwegian sheep and mohair.
  • The coarsest mohair is used for a colorful interior yarn mostly used in the loom. From this yarn we create beautiful carpets or other interior textiles.

All our yarns is a combination between mohair and some form of sheep or lambs wool. This to create a yarn with the best possible knitting or weaving properties. The reason for doing so is that we feel that to wool gives definition and hold to our yarn, dues creating a better quality for our customers.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
